Fed up with your phone battery constantly draining? St Edwards Catholic Junior School Year 6 pupils had this exact problem and decided to look into creative solutions.

Experiments in the classroom, using items found in school bags and lunch boxes resulted in the children discovering they could charge their mobile phone by simply plugging the charging cable into…a banana!!

The class are now looking into why it works, how long they can charge a phone this way and what other things they can charge with bananas…as well as cleaning the banana off the charger cable!
